Whilst there are a number of ways you can develop mobile and desktop applications, the ability to link the two is not always straight forward. Data Exchange provides a facility on the Internet where the mobile applications can post and store their data, the available data then can be accessed from any PC. By using this method of data collection there is no need to have dedicated servers or the need to gain access through firewalls. Basic Workings To make it work, we have simplified the process into simple commands, executed using AJAX over the Internet to a central server. There are serveral simple commands called API's, the main API used is the PUSH command. Using the PUSH command a mobile application can push data into a pocket, the data can wait there on the Internet server until it is collected using the PULL command.

CATS (Computerised Asset Tracking System) is an asset management system with a browser interface designed to cover all aspects of asset recording. Remote Auditing CATS has a mobile application which is used for asset recording and remote auditing. The application is powered by Active Studio and is fully supported across the Windows Mobile platforms.

SCM is a Stock Counting software package which allows the user to automate the stock count and allows them to instantly download the stocktake file and compare it with the previous stock file. An audit controller can asign a stock count task to protable devices like PDA's or Hand Held Terminals, once a task is complete a report can be generated to allow the analysis of the stock. SCM Mobile The mobile terminal can connect over a wireless network or in batch mode via a cradle. During the counting process the collected data is validated against location and product lists. This also will help reduce human error.
